Τhe increasing levels of domestic and global competition in all levels, the rapid developments taking place in the fields of technology and production methods, as well as the ever changing economic environment, form new parameters in the business environment. In light of this, the small enterprises forced to adapt to the new circumstances and to the needs of the market, in order, not only to survive, but also to develop themselves, by recognising and adopting innovation in all the fields of entrepreneurship, both individually and collectively.
For all these reasons, IME GSEVEE has drafted and implements actions supporting innovation and cooperation, in order to contribute to the strengthening of the small enterprises’ innovation capacity and competitiveness. In a first level, these actions concern the provision of information and training of the enterprises and in a second level, the provision of customised support, as necessary. More precisely, the implemented actions are:
Organization of information events and publication of information material aiming at the enterprises’ awareness and information, concerning the innovation and clusters. In the context of this activity, the following guides have been released and they are available:
- Innovation guide for small enterprises
- Clusters guide for small enterprises
- Intellectual property guide for small enterprises
Organisation of training seminars aiming at the familiarisation of the trainees with the concepts of innovation and clusters. The topics cover a wide range of subjects and more precisely: a) clarification of the concepts of innovation and clusters b) presentation of innovation management tools c) presentation and analysis of best practices regarding the implementation of innovation and the formation of clusters.
3. Support services
- Drafting Innovation Plans
Drafting Innovation Plans, that include tailor made guidance in an organisational and technological innovation level (e.g. new products development), aiming at the strengthening of the innovation capacity and at the enterprises’ growth.
- Supporting clusters
Clusters preparation and incubation, through Cluster Action Plans, which analyse the necessary steps and the actions that should be taken, for the clusters’ launch and growth
- Supporting Intellectual Property Rights
Guidance and support concerning Industrial Property Rights (e.g. patents, industrial designs, trademarks), as well as copyright and related rights, aiming at the protection and better use of the enterprise’s intellectual capital.
- Supporting innovation
Organisation of business meetings, concerning the partnership between the innovation providers and the small enterprises, as well as organisation of business visits for the exchange of best practices and the enhancement of the cooperation perspectives.

The principal beneficiaries of these services are the small enterprises in the fields of manufacturing, commerce and services, which seek for information and support in order to introduce and develop innovation, to strengthen their extroversion, to build cooperation and to improve their competitiveness.
For the provision of integrated, effective and efficient services, IME GSEVEE has developed a set of horizontal operations, which includes:
- Collection, classification and evaluation of study material related with innovation issues in a national and international level.
- Mapping the national innovation system.
- Recording best practices, regarding the innovation implementation in small enterprises and the monitoring of the needs of the market, both in Greece and abroad.>
- Networking with innovation agencies and related organisations, both in Greece and abroad.
- Formulation of policy proposals and strategic positions, with emphasis at the improvement of the national innovation system.
